District Youth Commissioner (2022 - 2024):
As District Youth Commissioner, my role is was to make sure the views of all of our Scout members in Preston are represented at group and district levels. Acting as the feedback arm of the district team, I informed various departments on the best use of our resources and advise on what events, policies and plans would be best received by our members.
As part of this role I also managed a team of people and managed our yearly budget and expenses for my department.
Network Administrator (2023 - 2024)
As Network Administrator, I helped in the running of our Scout Network in Preston, a social group for 18-24 year old leaders in the district. My main role was to manage memberships, our health and safety, manage risk assessments and oversee all administrative duties for the department. In addition to this, I also plan and run events and socials for the section.
After recruiting a manager for this section, I agreed to join the section in an administrative capacity to help advise and support during the onboarding, set-up and infancy of the section.
District Trustee (2022 - 2024)
As a legal trustee of the charity that runs scouting in Preston, I was responsible for scrutinising the finances of the district, our spending and income, the general running of the district including building maintenance and insurance, and ensuring the safety of the members within the district through various safety and safeguarding measures.
This role was an ex-officio appointment due to my role in the senior leadership of the district as the District Youth Commissioner.
Fazackerley Trust Trustee (2023 - Present)
William Fazackerley was a long serving Scout Leader in Preston. In his death, he left the bulk of his estate to a trust named the Fazackerley Trust. The trust's aim is to award grants to Scout members in Preston to ensure that money is not a barrier for them partaking in Scouting activities and camps.
At the start of the year I was asked to join the charity during a restructuring to add a new perspective to the group of trustees.
As one of six total trustees, I oversee the charity's finances and our spending to ensure our longevity and oversee and vote on grants for Scout members who may be disadvantaged.
This is a highly rewarding role and one I am very honoured to have been chosen for.
Activities Instructor (2021 - Present)
As an archery and axe throwing instructor for Waddecar, I provide safe, instructed sessions for Scout and School groups from across the country.
Due to the high risk of the activities, this includes many layers of safety, following safety procedures and careful reviewing of the risk assessments.
